Ingredients

Serves : 3
  • 100 gms toor dhal


  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder


  • 3 tsp oil


  • 50 gms shallots


  • 2 nos green chillies


  • 1 nos red chili


  • 1/2 tsp hing


  • 2 nos tomatoes


  • 3 tsp thick tamarind water


  • 2 tsp powder salt


  • 1/2 nos curry leaves,handful


  • 1/2 nos coriander leaves,handul


  • 1/2 tsp mustard


  • 1/2 tsp urad dhal


  • 500 ml water

Directions

  • cook the toor dhal with with 400 ml water, turmeric powder,hing and 1 spoon oil. Wait for 5 whistles.
  • Meantime chop the shallots, tomatoes and green chillies.
  • Put a kadai on the stove.
  • Add oil.
  • When it is hot add 1 spoon mustard, half spoon urad dhal.
  • Wait until mustard splutters and urad dhal becomes golden colour.
  • Now add chopped shallots.
  • Saute for 2 minutes.Add g chillies and red chilli.
  • Add tomatoes and saute until oil separates.
  • Add curry leaves.
  • Add 1 cup water and cook until onion and tomatoes become soft.
  • Now add cooked dhal.
  • Add salt.
  • Add tamarind paste.
  • Cook for 3 more minutes and switch off gas.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
